Meanwhile, New Zealand bowlers were keeping it tight as India had lost five batsmen- Ishan Kishan, KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli – for just 70 runs after Kane Williamson opted to bowl first. Ish Sodhi had struck twice so far, while Trent Boult, Tim Southee and Adam Milne bagged one each with the Blackcaps dictating terms at the moment.
New Zealand had brought in Adam Milne in their playing XI while India replaced the injured Suryakumar with Ishan and Bhuvneshwar Kumar with Shardul Thakur. Both sides headed into this Super 12 contest on the back of a defeat in their opening game against Pakistan.’
“We would have bowled first as well. We need a solid start and have wickets in hand to get those extra 20-25 runs are the learnings from the last game,” Virat Kohli said at the toss.
