The OPSC has come up with a detailed list of vacant positions in particular subjects. Anthropology subject has six vacant posts, botany (48), chemistry (85), commerce (30), economics (40), education (20), English (44), environmental science (5), geography (10), geology (8), history (30), logic and philosophy (10), mathematics (63), Odia (25), physics (75), political science (10), psychology (14), sociology (12), life science (3) and zoology (68).
Out of the total 606 vacant posts, the government has reserved 136 posts for Scheduled Tribe, 98 for Scheduled Caste, 66 for socially and economically backward class (SEBC), 24 for persons with disabilities (PWD) and six for sportspersons category.
A candidate must not be above 45 years of age and under 21 years of age on the last date of receiving/submission of online application that is December 3. He/she should possess a master’s degree in the concerned subject from a recognized university with at least 55 percent of marks (50 per cent for SC and ST candidates) or its equivalent grade.
The candidate should have cleared National Eligibility Test (NET) meant for appointment of assistant professor (stage-I) or must have acquired a PhD degree on the concerned/allied/relevant subject from an Indian university or foreign university, said the official notification.
Online registration/re-registration and online payment of examination fees will be available on the OPSC website from October 26 to November 25. Submission of online registered applications can be done on the website from October 26 to till December 3.
The recruitment drive should have been conducted before, but the Covid-19 situation poured water in the plan of the higher education department in recruiting teachers in the degree colleges.
