Jammu: A senior doctor who was in a critical condition after having tested positive for swine flu here, passed away on Thursday in a hospital in New Delhi where he had been airlifted, a health official said.
“We have come to know that Dr Bupinder Singh who had tested positive for swine flu and was admitted in GMC hospital in Jammu expired in New Delhi where he was airlifted this afternoon, but so far we don’t have any official confirmation of his death,” Director Health services Jammu, Dr Baljeet Pathania said.
Meanwhile, two more patients with symptoms similar to that of swine flu were admitted to Government Medical College hospital on Thursday, thus taking the total number of admitted patients to 22.
“Today, 59 patients with flu like symptoms visited the OPD here out of which two were admitted in the hospital. So far we have 22 patients admitted in the isolation ward of our hospital,” Dr RR Paul Medical superintendent GMC said.
Pathania said the health department on Thursday collected 21 more samples that were sent to Delhi for investigation.
