After tons of leaks and rumors, Xiaomi has finally launched its new Xiaomi 12 series smartphone in China. The smartphone series consists of Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12 Pro, and Xiaomi 12X. Xiaomi 12 Overview

Xiaomi 12 is the successor to last year’s Xiaomi 11 that was launched in Nepal. The smartphone arrives with specs like a 120Hz display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, 50 MP triple cameras, 4500mAh battery, and more. 

Design/Display

Starting off with the design of the smartphone, the Xiaomi 12 features a beautiful design. The smartphone is thin and weighs only 180 gm. It has a dimension of 152.7 x 69.9 x 8.2 mm. It has a punch-hole design at the front that houses the selfie camera at the top. The smartphone also has Gorilla Glass Victus which provides protection. The phone is available in three different color options such as Black, Green, Blue, and Pink.

Xiaomi 12 comes with a 6.28 inch AMOLED display along with a screen resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels, and a higher 120Hz refresh rate. It also features an aspect ratio of 20-9, 89.2% screen-to-body ratio, 419 PPI density, 12-bit color support, and 1100 nits of maximum brightness, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision. It has an in-display fingerprint sensor and Ai Face Unlock as the biometrics security.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC

Under the hood, Xiaomi 12 comes powered with the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC Chipset. It is an octa-core processor based on 4nm processing technology that is equipped with an octa-core CPU with a clock speed of up to 3.0GHz. For graphics, it has a powerful Adreno 730 GPU.   

Coming to the memory configuration of the device, it is coupled with 8/12GB LPDDR5 RAM, and 128 or 256GB UFS 2.3 internal storage option. Likewise, on the software front, the Xiaomi 12 runs on brand new MIUI 13 based on Android 12 OS. Xiaomi 12 also comes with a 2600mm² super large VC liquid cooling system.

Camera  

Now moving on to the optical features of the smartphone, the smartphone arrives with a triple camera setup at the rear, with a vertical rectangular camera module. The rear camera is led by a 50 MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor with an f/1.8 aperture & Optical Image Stabilization (OIS),  accompanied by a 13 MP ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture and 123° field of view (FOV). It also has a 5 MP telephoto camera. While on the front, Xiaomi 12 packs a selfie camera of 32 MP that captures beautiful selfies.

Xiaomi 12 also uses CyberFocus from CyberDOg. CyberFocus is the company’s name for its camera autofocus system. It will help you greatly to take action shots on your phone. Talking about the videography aspect of the smartphone, the rear cameras are capable of recording videos up to [email protected] (HDR10), [email protected] (HDR10+), [email protected]/120/240/960fps, [email protected] gyro-EIS. The smartphone will be made available for purchase starting from January in Chinese markets. Xiaomi 12 is also expected to launch very soon in Nepal. The Xiaomi 12 is expected to be priced around Rs. 82,999 for the base variant in Nepal. The smartphone will be competing with other flagship smartphones in Nepal.
