Users of WhatsApp Windows app may soon get archived chats. As per a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp has started to roll out a new beta update for UWP app. The update brings the version of the app up to 2.2213.3.0. With the update, the platform gets support for archived chats. For those who do not know, the archive chat feature allows users to hide an individual or group chat from your chat list to better organise your conversations. Till now, the feature was not available for Windows users.
The report further reveals that the version of the feature rolled out for Windows users is the latest one so it means that the archived chats always stay in the archive section even when new messages arrive. As this is a part of beta version, it is not yet known when WhatsApp will bring the feature in a stable release.
Apart from this feature, the Facebook owned platform has also introduced new icons. After the latest beta release, WhatsApp UWP users will see new icons for media, files, links, encryption, and groups, under the chat options.
WhatsApp rolled out a dedicated Windows app in November last year. The app is quite similar to the web version of the platform and it is available to download on the Microsoft Store. It is based on Universal Windows Platform (UWP) which means it can sync in the background and receive notifications even when it is not running.
