WhatsApp users in India, the company has rolled out these new features for you – Rashtra News
WhatsApp has introduced new features for the Indian market. The features are claimed to make WhatsApp safer for users. The new features that the Facebook-owned messaging platform has rolled out include – Flash calls and message-level reporting. Both the features were in the works for quite some time and were earlier spotted by WABetaInfo in the beta updates. Here is what these security features do and how they are useful for you.
Flash calls feature on WhatsApp
Till now, whenever you try to log in to a WhatsApp account, you have to enter a six-digit one time password (OTP) that the platform sends on your registered mobile number. Without entering the right OTP you can not access your account. With the Flash call feature, you can skip this tedious process. The feature allows you to verify yourself through an automated call. As of now, the feature is only available on Android devices.
Message-level reporting feature on WhatsApp
The message-level reporting feature allows users to report a specific message from any other user. You can even report a message sent by another user in a Group. The feature is available for Android and iOS devices. To use this, tap and hold on a message that you want to report and from the menu select ‘Report’. You will have the option to just Report the message or to Report and Block.
Recently, the platform also rolled out the “My Contacts Except” feature that allows users to control who can see their Last seen, status, profile photo and About description on WhatsApp. The feature can be accessed under the privacy settings. The app already had options like Everyone, My Contacts and Nobody. With the new feature, users can select the contacts with who they don’t wish to share information like last seen, profile photo, status and About description. The contacts that are not selected by the user will not be able to see any new changes and information.
