WhatsApp -My Contacts Except: WhatsApp users on Android getting this new privacy feature – Rashtra News
NEW DELHI: WhatsApp has rolled out a new privacy update which will grant more control to the users. The popular instant-messaging app has released a feature called ‘My Contacts Except’. The feature will allow users to control who can see their Last seen, status, profile photo and About description on WhatsApp.
WABetaInfo, the Twitter account that tracks changes in WhatsApp build, has confirmed that Android users on WhatsApp are getting this new ‘My Contacts Except’ feature with update version 2.21.23.14. This new privacy feature enables users to select who can see their information like last seen, profile photo, status and About description.
You will find this new option under the privacy settings in WhatsApp. This is the fourth option as the app already offers options like Everyone, My Contacts and Nobody. Users will have to select the contacts who they don’t wish to share information with using the ‘My Contacts Expect’ option. The contacts not selected will not be able to see any new changes made by you and will continue to see the same old information.
Also, if a user disables their last seen for specific contacts, then they won’t be able to see their Last seen status either. However, the same rule does not apply to About and Profile Photo.
Apart from this, another WABetaInfo report revealed that WhatsApp beta users are getting a new update. The update brings in a new user interface (UI) for the contact information section. The design change was already visible to a few beta users with the previous update. The report also mentions that with the new beta version, a few users may also receive the activation of the new interface for Group Info.
