WhatsApp rolls out updates with new features and bug fixes regularly for its app on various platforms. Although the app works in quite a similar manner on iOS, Android and Windows users, there are a few features that are only available to Apple iPhone users. One of such features is the blur tool for the in-app image editor. The feature is only limited to iOS users currently but WhatsApp is reportedly planning to roll out the feature for Android users as well. As per a report by WABetaInfo, the Facebook owned platform has started to release a new beta update for Android users. The update brings the version of the app up to 2.22.7.1. With the new version, the platform has started to test the blur tool in addition with new pencils for Android users .
What does the blur tool and new pencil in the drawing editor do
With the latest beta update, Android users will get two new pencils in addition to the one that is already available. The screenshot reveals that the pencils will have a varying degree of thickness.
As the name suggests, the blur tool allows iPhone users to blur the whole image or a limited section of the image that they do not want to reveal before sharing the image. The blue effect can be used in the drawing editor that appears before sending any media file.
As per the screenshot in the report, the new tools are visible at the bottom of the page in the redesigned drawing editor. It is worth noting that these features are only available to users who are enrolled in the beta program. As of now WhatsApp has not revealed any detail about the availability of the feature for public users but it is expected that the tools will be available with the upcoming updates.
