In general categories, the upper age-limit for candidates has gone up from 24 years in the 1960s to 32 years for the 2014 exam. As per the new revisions, upper age of candidates from the scheduled caste and scheduled tribes has been reduced by five years, while a three-year cut has been made for candidates from other backward classes.
