A day after the Taliban claimed victory over the rebel Panjshir province in Afghanistan, unidentified military planes targeted the positions of the militant group in the valley, according to local news reports.
On Monday, the Taliban claimed that Panjshir province, the last stronghold of anti-Taliban resistance forces in Afghanistan, was “completely conquered”. Videos of gun-wielding Taliban fighters hoisting flag at the Panjshir Governor’s office went viral on Twitter.
However, Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF), dismissed the Taliban’s claim of having conquered Panjshir. He claimed that the resistance forces fighting the Taliban were “invincible” and he would fight till his “last drop of blood”.
