UGC NET 2021 Update: The National Testing Agency (NTA), which is tasked with conducting the UGC NET 2021 Examination for December 2020 and June 2021 cycles has once again rescheduled the UGC NET Examination Dates which now will be held from October 17, 2021 (Sunday) to October 25, 2021 (Monday) owing to the overlapping of exams on the previously assigned dates.
Earlier, the NTA had scheduled the UGC NET 2021 for December 2020 and June 2021 cycles from October 6 to October 8, 2021, and October 17 to October 19, 2021, respectively.
Issuing an official notice over the rescheduling of UGC NET 2021 examination dates, the NTA said, “In continuation to the Public Notice dated 03.09.2021 regarding rescheduling of the Examination dates for UGC-NET December 2020 and June 2021 cycles, it has been decided to further reschedule the dates of the UGC-NET December 2020 and June 2021 cycles.”
“Representations are being received from candidates seeking further rescheduling of the dates of the UGC-NET December 2020 and June 2021 cycles, on account of difficulties being experienced by them due to clashes with some major examinations on 06th and 07th October 2021,” the official notice further stated.

Why UGC NET Examination For December 2020 And June 2021 Cycles?
UGC-NET is conducted twice every year. However, due to the postponement of December 2020 UGC-NET in view of COVID-19, the schedule of June 2021 UGC-NET was delayed. In order to regularize the UGC-NET examination cycles, the National Testing Agency (NTA), with the concurrence of UGC, has merged both UGC-NET of December 2020 and June 2021 cycles so that they be conducted together in CBT mode.
Who Will Conduct UGC NET Examination?
The UGC NET exam was initiated by UGC and later, the CBSE conducted the NET in 84 subjects at 91 centers across the country. From December 2018 onwards, the responsibility of UGC NET has been transferred to the National Testing Agency (NTA), which has been established as a premier and autonomous testing organization for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions.
