SAMS ensures a single window system for admission of students through e-admission process. It was started in 2009-10 for Plus II and then for Plus III in 2011-12. Later it covered ITI, diploma and teacher education courses. Besides, the system also maintains academic and financial records of each student admitted into the different educational institutions.
Presently, 1025 higher educational institutions comprising 10 universities have been participating in the SAMS e-admission process for UG courses in different subjects having total seat strength of 2,50,139 except these two universities.
Rajesh Kumar Sahoo, deputy director of the higher education department, in a letter to registrars of two universities requested to take part in the admission process carried out by SAMS platform.
He said a single admission process (SAMS e-admission) has been introduced in Odisha for the convenience of students aspiring to get enrolled in UG courses. This common e-admission process not only saves time and extra manpower but also facilitates the students across the state for taking UG admission in a centralised SAMS platform, he added.
“Hence, students will get opportunities to study in your institution through a common admission procedure. In this context, it is requested to convey your willingness to participate in the SAMS admission process so as to start the procedure for inclusion of your institution in the SAMS application,” read the letter.
Ravenshaw University, a unitary university, came into existence in 2006. It conducts admission for UG students on its own. Similarly, Gangadhar Meher University, which was upgraded from an autonomous college to a unitary university in 2015, does not depend on SAMS platform for admission of UG students.
“We have requested the universities to participate in the SAMS process from the session 2022-23. We hope the authorities of the institutions will show their willingness for this,” said Sahoo.
