Chennai Super Kings players and support staff were involved in a team bonding exercise on Monday, days after their defeat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 opening game to Kolkata Knight Riders. Overseen by head coach Stephen Fleming, the CSK players, including captain Ravindra Jadeja and MS Dhoni, were involved in the unforeseen exercise which involved cement and bricks.
The senior players and new recruits formed groups and were seen building structures in a video shared by the Super Kings. “In coaching, team building is very important, so we are doing team building,” head coach Fleming said.
As expected, senior all-rounder Dwayne Bravo was having fun, marking the bricks with “No. 1”, referring to the new track that he released in the lead up to IPL 2022.

Chennai Super Kings have always taken pride in having a family-like environment in the camp. CSK have relied on their core group of players that have served them well over the years, showing trust in senior campaigners.
However, after the IPL 2022 mega auction, CSK had brought in quite a few fresh faces while letting go of some known names, including Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina and Shardul Thakur.
Over the years, players who have been part of CSK have always talked up the calm and composed dressing room atmosphere under their former captain,MS Dhoni.
CSK began their journey under new captain Ravindra Jadeja with a nervous defeat to KKR on Saturday despite a fifty from Dhoni. Questions were asked of Jadeja’s body language in their season-opening defeat.
Former Australia and CSK opener Matthew Hayden said he was not impressed by what he saw from the 4-time champions against KKR, adding that new captain Jadeja was nervous.
“Even the nervousness they felt with Rav (Ravindra Jadeja) as captain it was so unlike CSK in many ways.
“I am getting a little nervous about CSK. They have got a new captain, a completely different outfit, some old heads there but there’s also a lot to prove. Also, there’s a lot to make up, especially after the opening night’s performance,” Hayden told Star Sports.
