ndia U19 World Cup-winning captain Yash Dhull on Thursday scripted history as he hit a hundred on his Ranji Trophy debut. The 19-year-old got to the landmark in just 133 balls for Delhi on Day 1 of their Group H match against Tamil Nadu at the ACA Stadium in Guwahati.
Yash Dhull, who led India to the U19 World Cup title on February 4, dominated the Tamil Nadu bowling attack, stepping up under pressure after Delhi were reduced to 7/2 after Vijay Shankar won the toss and opted to field on Day of their Ranji Trophy opener.
Yash Dhull hit 16 boundaries in a stroke-filled innings as he stamped his authority against a high-quality Tamil Nadu bowling attack, showcasing the ease with which he has taken to first-class cricket. Notably, Dhull was caught at mid-wicket when he was batting on 97 but the bowler, M Mohammed had overstepped.
Yash Dhull eventually got out for 113 in 150 deliveries after getting trapped LBW to Mohammed in the 50th over of the match. The teenager had stitched on 119-run partnership for the 4th wicket with Jonty Sidhu who was solid in the middle.

Yash joins an elite list of batters, including Sachin Tendulkar and Prithvi Shaw, to hit a Ranji Trophy hundred on debut as a teenager. Notably, Shaw also led India to U19 World Cup glory in 2018.
Yash overcame the Covid-19 setback to lead India to the U19 World Cup title earlier this month in New Zealand. The 19-year-old from Delhi hit a hundred in the semi-final against Australia.
The Delhi selectors did not hesitate to include Yash in the Ranji Trophy squad as the teenager was in prime form in the lead up to the domestic red-ball tournament.
It’s been a remarkable February for Yash as he also got an Indian Premier League contract, days after lifting the U19 World Cup trophy. Delhi Capitals bought the highly-rated batter for Rs 50 lakh.
