Gowtham took two of the four wickets to fall in the first session on day three at the SSN ground. Karnataka had declared its first innings at 453 for eight.

Mukesh Kumar removed Gambhir early. Later, Ishan Porel had Kaushik caught by his brother and trapped Shresth Nirmohi in one over.
Jaskarandeep was the last man to go as he holed out at deep midwicket off Shahbaz Ahmed.
Bengal, which got a substantial first innings lead of 231 runs, chose to bat again.
