Ravindra Jadeja has decided to step down as Chennai Super Kings captain to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK. MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game.

Jadeja too, has struggled in the tournament, scoring just 112 runs in 92 balls at a strike rate of 121.7 with a boundary every 8.3 balls while also picking up five wickets in eight innings at an economy rate of 8.19.

Chennai Super Kings fans were thrilled after CSK announced that MS Dhoni would return as captain for the remaining games of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

The defending IPL champions made the announcement on Saturday. The 40-year-old led Chennai to four IPL titles, the most recent being in the 2021 season.

A statement issued by CSK read, “Ravindra Jadeja has decided to relinquish the captaincy to focus and concentrate more on his game and has requested MS Dhoni to lead CSK. MS Dhoni has accepted to lead CSK in the larger interest and to allow Jadeja to focus on his game.”

At the time of the announcement by the franchise, CSK were second-last in the IPL 2022 points table with just two wins from eight matches.
