Manchester is buzzing. Two of the world’s biggest sporting superstars — Virat Kohli and Cristiano Ronaldo — are in the English city, gearing up for big tests over the weekend. While Kohli will lead India against England in the fifth and final Test, starting Saturday at Old Trafford, Ronaldo is likely to make his second debut for Manchester United when the Premier League giants take on Newcastle United at the Old Trafford on Saturday.
The excitement levels were high as Lancashire Cricket took to social media and teased fans, asking them if they wanted to see a joint training session involving Virat Kohli and Cristiano Ronaldo at the Old Trafford. Notably, the two iconic grounds are situated close to each other with fans expecting the loud cheers of welcome for Ronaldo would be heard on Day 2 of the 5th Test between England and India.
“Fancy a joint training session at @EmiratesOT to #BreaktheInternet?,” Lancashire Cricket wrote in a social media post.
Manchester United responded to the post and so did Premier League India.
Kohli has often expressed his admiration for Ronaldo, saying the Portugal star’s confidence and conviction is an inspiration to him.

Cristiano Ronaldo arrived in Manchester earlier than expected after Portugal released him from the World Cup qualifier squad earlier this month. Ronaldo joined United in a sensational piece of summer transfer from Juventus. After speculation that Ronaldo would join United’s cross-town rivals, Manchester City, the Portugal captain returned to Old Trafford, sending the Red Devils fans into a tizzy.
It remains to be seen if Ronaldo will be able to make his full debut for United on Saturday, considering he joined training only on September 7 after completing the mandatory isolation period after arriving in Manchester. If he does not make it on Saturday, the superstar is expected to feature in the Champions League opener against Young Boys on September 14.
