Legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne on Sunday suffered a motorbike accident while riding along with his son Jackson. Warne fell off the bike and slide for more than 15 meters, according to Australian media.
Shane Warne, who picked up 708 Test wickets in 145 Tests in a celebrated career for Australia, avoided any serious injuries. However, Warne had woken up on Monday morning with a lot of pain.
Warne visited a hospital on Monday as a precaution. He had feared whether he had broken his leg or damaged his hip after the motorbike accident.
Speaking to News Corp, Shane Warne said he was still in pain after the accident on Sunday. “I’m a bit battered and bruised and very sore,” he said.
Shane Warne, 52, is expected to recover in time and begin commentary duties for Fox Cricket when Ashes 2021-22 starts from December 8 at the Gabba, Brisbane.
Australia will be led by new Test captain Pat Cummins after Tim Paine stepped down due to a sexting scandal. Steve Smith has been appointed as the vice-captain of the senior national team.
Speaking on Sunday, Pat Cummins said the Australia leadership in Tests will be a collaborative approach with Steve Smith will be taking an elevated vice-captaincy role in the team.
“There will be times on the field when I throw to Steve, and you’ll see Steve moving fielders around, maybe doing bowling changes and taking a bit more of an elevated vice-captaincy and that’s what I really want,” Cummins told cricket.com.au.
