Ravindra Jadeja came up with another heroic all-round effort as Chennai Super Kings pulled off a stunning chase in a last-over thriller in Match 38 of IPL 2021 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Sunday. Sunil Narine used all his experience to deny CSK 4 runs in the final over and even got the big Jadeja wicket but Deepak Chahar hit the winning runs.
With the 2-wicket win over Eoin Morgan’s KKR, MS Dhoni’s men moved back to the top of the IPL 2021 points table. Both Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings are tied on 16 points and are all but assured of places in the play-offs.

Batting at No.3, Moeen Ali once again made sure the asking rate never went beyond control as the left-hander hit a 28-ball 32 stitching a decent stand with Ambati Rayudu. However, KKR stormed right back into the contest Sunil Narine and Lockie Ferguson striking in quick succession.
In-form opener Venkatesh Iyer bowled an over after Andre Russell suffered an injury scare and did the job for his captain, giving away just 5 runs.
With MS Dhoni joining hands with Suresh Raina after coming ahead of Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja, the match boiled down to the wires. Varun Chakravarthy, however, swung it in favor of KKR by picking up the big wicket of Dhoni (1 from 4 balls) in the 18th over shortly after Raina was run-out while failing to complete a double.
Jadeja goes hammer and tongs in 19th over
CSK needed 26 runs in the last 2 overs when Sam Curran and Jadeja got together in the middle. Eoin Morgan threw the ball to Prasidh Krishna but the move did not work as the young fast bowler was taken to the cleaners by Jadeja.
After just 2 runs in the first two deliveries of the 19th over, Jadeja unleashed fury. He hit 2 sixes and as many boundaries to bring down the equation to 4 from the last over.
Veteran Narine did well to take the match to the last ball but Deepak Chahar held his calm and hit the winning runs as CSK flaunted their batting depth.
Dinesh Karthik, Nitish Rana cameos in vain
Earlier in the day, Kolkata Knight Riders rode on cameos from Nitish Rana and Dinesh Karthik to post an above-par total of 171 for 6 in 20 overs. With the big guns, including Eoin Morgan and Andre Russell failing to get going, Rana and Karthik took on the Chennai bowling attack at the death.
in the last 20 balls, KKR hit 46 runs as Dinesh Karthik, batting for the first time in the UAE leg of IPL 2021, hit a 11-ball 26. In the absence of Dwayne Bravo, CSK’s death bowling took a hit as Sam Curran leaked aplenty, giving away 56 runs in his 4-over spell while Australia fast bowler Josh Hazlewood gave away 40 runs.
KKR struggled to accelerate in the middle overs after a strong start but CSK pushed ahead in the same phase and in the end, it proved to be the difference between the two sides.
