9 September 2015,London. The murder of two media workers in Karachi and the attack on a third one in Hayatabad by unidentified gunmen in the span of 24 hours must be promptly investigated, and those responsible brought to justice. Amnesty International has documented the killings of at least 34 journalists as a direct consequence of their work since democratically-elected government was restored in Pakistan in March 2008. Given this backdrop of targeted attacks against journalists because of their work, the government’s investigation must be thorough, transparent and made public.
