Users can watch movies and TV shows, listen to music, or complete a workout with friends together on a FaceTime call. Here’s what all one can do with SharePlay on Apple devices.
Users can stream movies, TV shows in sync over FaceTime giving them a real-life experience of watching content together. There’s also the option of watching esports on Twitch. Users can use many apps to watch content on FaceTime. SharePlay extends to Apple TV so users can watch on the big screen while using FaceTime on iPhone or iPad. With screen sharing support, users can also browse the web together, look at photos, or show their friends something in a favourite app.
With SharePlay, users can share experiences with friends and family while on a FaceTime call on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV. Mac users will have to wait as support for SharePlay is expected to arrive later.
Apple has added playback controls on FaceTime with SharePlay, which means anyone can play, pause, or jump ahead while watching content. With dynamic volume controls, audio from the streaming content will automatically lower when a FaceTime participant is speaking, making it easy to continue the conversation in the middle of a scene.
There are apps that support SharePlay and help users learn together. For instance, Explain Everything is an app that allows users to chat over FaceTime while collaborating on a whiteboard, and Night Sky gives users a way to identify stars, planets, constellations, and satellites together.
Screen sharing was a feature that was missing on FaceTime for a while now but SharePlay fixes that issue.
A few Indian developers have also implemented support for SharePlay. Like Food Book Recipes app allows users to can cook a recipe in sync with family and friends over FaceTime using SharePlay. Rhymelo is a songwriting app that supports SharePlay on FaceTime. Users can do a collaborative songwriting session on the app with SharePlay.
