prores: iPhone 13 Pro ProRes will be available with future update – Rashtra News
Apart from the Cinematic Mode that’s now a part of iPhones camera system, one more feature that Apple emphasised and talked about a lot during the event is the new ProRes video codec support for iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max.
However, it seems like the feature won’t be available for iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max users at launch. 9to5mac has reported that it will arrive at a later date via an update. There’s no official date available when Apple will roll out the ProRes update to the smartphones, but we can expect that to happen sometime later this year.
Talking about ProRes, the codec is very popular among professionals and used by film industries. In simple words as ProRAW is for photos, ProRes is for videos. The codec records videos with minimal compression resulting in high-resolution, detailed video footage.
This high quality footage then allows video editors to have that creative liberty they want as per the script because it carries a lot more details and data compared to regular video codecs like MP4, MKV, etc.
The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, once the feature arrives, will be able to shoot and edit ProRes videos just like Dolby Vision support.
Apple has also put some other iOS 15 features on hold which will not be available for users on September 20. It includes SharePlay, ID cards, App Privacy Report, etc.
