The long over due film, I Love NY, has been at the centre of legal controversy since the release of its trailer recently. According to Bollywood Hungama, the release didn’t go down too well with the Tanu Weds Manu Returns actress and led to her sending T Series a legal notice about moving on with the release without her consent. On the other hand, co-star Sunny Deol publicly lambasted Bhushan Kumar (producer of I Love NY) for being a spoilt brat and now the head honcho of T-series himself has a reply for Sunny!
He opens up to Indian Express saying, “My film was held up for four years because Sunny refused to dub for it – this after I had paid him his entire fee.” He adds that there were some portions to be re-shot but Sunny said he couldn’t do it as he had grown a beard for Yamla Pagla Deewana.” After Bhushan sent a legal notice Sunny agreed to dub, but “by then Kangana Ranaut had lost interest in the film but she still agreed to dub and re-shoot her parts. She has been professional and I have no complaints against her”.
The producer further added “No actor gives permission (for release) until and unless she is an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) member of the film.” However, he also confesses that he had sold the rights of the film 18 months ago to a sister company and therefore cannot withhold the release of the film because Kangana doesn’t want it to be released yet.
