BJP Office-bearers’ meet to discuss elections in five states, farmers’ agitation, Covid scene
The meeting will be attended by all the national office-bearers of the party, including the presidents of the different morchas. The last office-bearers’ meeting had taken place in February this year, which was addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“That was a large-scale meeting which was attended by state party presidents also. This time, the meeting will be addressed by party president JP Nadda,” Arun Singh, BJP general secretary, told ET. “The work done by the party till date in Seva Aur Samarpan and other organisational achievements and shortcomings will be discussed at the meeting. Future programmes and the party’s work will also be discussed.”
Singh didn’t mention elections in five states on the agenda but said that the party discusses all the upcoming political events and programmes. But party sources told ET that the focus of the meeting would be on the upcoming assembly polls. The in-charges of the five poll-bound states of UP, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur and Goa, will present the work being carried out and the party’s position vis-a-vis the upcoming polls. The meeting will also deliberate on issues and the campaigning.
The party had recently constituted a national executive committee and it has been two-and-a-half years since a national executive meeting has taken place. During Monday’s meeting, a date and place for the national executive would be decided. UP was in consideration as the venue. However, party sources told ET that it will take time in making arrangements for the meeting there, in which case, the meeting is likely to be held in Delhi though a final call will be taken during the meeting.
