Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today raised questions over Mallya taking a flight, reportedly to London, just days before a group of banks approached the Supreme Court with a plea to prevent the ‘international businessman’ from moving out of the country.
“Since CBI directly reports to PM, PM owes an answer why Mallya was allowed to leave India. CBI couldn’t have allowed without approval from top,” Kejriwal tweeted today. The CBI has accepted that the issue of the look-out circular (LOC) for Vijay Mallya seeking detention of the beleaguered businessman was an error on their part.
A CBI spokesperson said yesterday that Mallya was not found during searches on October 10, 2015 after which the agency wrote to BoI, saying it needs to be issued to ensure “his availability for questioning” in connection with Rs 900 crore loan default case involving IDBI bank.
