The headset, according to the company, has been designed keeping both PlayStation and the headset in mind to match the aesthetics of the console, which also reflects in the design of the PlayStation VR2 headset.
According to the images posted by Sony on the official PlayStation blog post, the headset carries a similar white and black design and colour language as the PlayStation 5.
In addition to that, the side of the headset gets similar textured PlayStation icons at the front and back bands.
The PS VR2 headset has a similar shape as the PS VR2 Sense controller to match the ‘orb’ look and feel. In terms of overall design, the design seems quite similar to the original PS VR headset.
Sony says, “Our goal is to create a headset that will not only become an attractive part of your living room decor, but will also keep you immersed in your game world, to the point where you almost forget you are using a headset or controller. That’s why we paid very close attention to the ergonomics of the headset and conducted extensive testing to ensure a comfortable feel for a variety of head sizes.”
The company has also retained the familiar buits from the original VR headset such as the headset’s adjustable scope that places the scope area closer or further away from the face and placement of the stereo headphone jack are similar to that of first generation headset.
However, the new PS VR 2 headset features a lot of new features and also brings improvements over the previous generation. For instance, the headset now features a lens adjustment dial, a slimmer design and comes with a built-in motor for headset feedback.
The headset also supports haptic feedback, eye tracking, 4K HDR, 90/120Hz frame rates, foveated rendering and offers 110 degree field of view.
The company has also clarified that the PS VR2 headset is compatible with both the latest PlayStation 5 and previous generation consoles. However, to use it with older consoles, users will need a separate adapter.
