Joint Commissioner of Police Saurabh Singh launched 25 pink auto-rickshaws. The police said that this service aims to boost security for women in the city.
The drivers of these pink autos have been thoroughly verified by the police authorities.
Also, some features like panic button and GPS have also been installed in the autos so that the women passengers can raise alarm when in need.
Women accompanied by a male colleague or family member can also avail this service. The service would be extended on demand, police said.
The auto service will be available at Huda city centre metro station in sector 29.
Earlier, these autos were introduced in the year 2010 but failed to spell out its magic and hence gradually faded away for want of women passengers.
