Kolhapur. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Maharashtra Police investigating the case of the killing of Comrade Pansare is defaming Sanstha by fabricating false evidence and imaginary stories. Dr. Virendra Singh Tawade, an M.D. Doctor, is being implicated in the case by hatching a sinister conspiracy. The Police personnel of SIT are persecuting the seekers of Sanatan Sanstha by engaging in unlawful practices and infringement of human rights. Sanatan’s seeker Mr. Samir Gaikwad was arrested as a suspect on 16th September 2015 by the Police in the case of the killing of Comrade Pansare. Despite the lapse of one year, the Police were not ready to start Court proceedings until May 2016. The Police are making efforts to incarcerate Dr. Tawade for a long time like they did with Samir Gaikwad. Just because the Police are unable to find the real culprits who committed the crime, Dr. Tawade and Mr. Samir Gaikwad should not be made sacrificial lambs, stated Mr. Abhay Vartak (Spokesperson of Sanatan Sanstha) in a press conference organised at Kolhapur. Adv. Virendra Ichalkaranjikar, president of Hindu Vidhidnya Parishad, Adv. Samir Patvardhan, Dr. Mansing Shinde of Sanatan Sanstha were also present at that time.
Unlawful behaviour of the Policemen of SIT
1. Despite the failure to find anything objectionable during the raid conducted by the CBI earlier, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) raided the home of Dr. Tawade and Sanatan’s Devad Ashram on the day of Ganesh Chaturthi. When SIT realised that nothing of any consequence could be found in Ashram, the Police officers seized some medicines stored legally in the dispensary of Ashram. Although, these medicines were ‘Psychotropic drugs’, the Police gave false information to media that these were ‘Narcotic drugs’. Moreover, the Police gave false information to the Court and media that seekers are administered medicines through tirtha, which can hypnotise them. This goes to show that SIT was more interested in defaming Sanatan Sanstha than conducting an inquiry.
2. The Court had issued an order on the evening of 3rd September that Dr. Tawade should be allowed to meet his lawyer during the investigation. However, the lawyer of the accused Adv. Virendra Ichalkaranjikar was not allowed to meet Dr. Tawade, and the lawyer was kept waiting in the Police office. The receipt of a letter from Adv. Ichalkaranjikar was also not acknowledged by giving the excuse that it was Sunday. Later, when Adv. Ichalkaranjikar sent E-mail and letter by Fax on 4th September, nothing was conveyed to him.
3. The inquiry with the lady-seekers was conducted till 4.30 a.m., when the law stipulates that inquiry with women cannot be conducted after 6 p.m. Thus, the SIT has broken the law.
4. After seizing the medicines and while making inquiries with the psychiatrists about it, the Police arrogantly asked them ‘Why such a large stock is required to be stored in the hospital ? This stock is enough for 3-4 hospitals. Even the stock is sufficient for the entire Delhi city’; thus, made efforts to pressurise them.
5. A seeker, who went to undergo the inquiry was threatened that he would be forced to lie down on the ice block.
6. Despite the Court order that any part of the record of investigation should not be divulged to the media, the Police leaked the false details of the investigation to the media; thus, causing the contempt of the Court.
7. On 2nd September 2016 while Dr. Tawade was being taken to the hospital, the Police failed to take any security measures even in the hospital to ensure his safety and allowed media to take his photographs purposefully. This is in contravention of the orders of the Government and the High Court.
8. In the night of 2nd September, Police officers Mr. Ravi Patil and Amrut Deshmukh had illegally beaten Dr. Tawade, suffering from many ailments, in the Police custody. When medical tests were conducted on Dr. Tawade as per the Court’s order, many of his ailments came to the light. The SIT has not only infringed the human rights of Dr. Tawade, but also disobeyed the orders of Mumbai High Court.
9. While Dr. Tawade was chanting with a mala in the Police custody, the Police seized his mala, which was returned subsequently after the repeated requests made by Dr. Tawade. Basically, to chant the name of Deity is a fundamental right of every individual. The investigation team has only displayed their hatred for Hindu Dharma by opposing the chanting.
Demands of Sanatan Sanstha
1. Mr. Suhel Sharma, the Additional Police Superintendent and Chief Investigation Officer is responsible for every illegal act committed since the arrest of Dr. Tawade; therefore, immediate action should be taken against him.
2. Appropriate legal action should be taken immediately against the Police officers Mr. Ravi Patil and Amrut Deshmukh, who have beaten Dr. Tawade.
3. The Police presented Dr. Tawade before the media by disobeying the orders from the Court and Government. His security was neglected. For this inappropriate act, stringent action should be taken against Amrut Deshmukh, Suhel Sharma and the Chief Officer of the SIT.
