Nepal’s Fixed Broadband Speed Among SAARC
Meanwhile, Nepal’s improving Fixed Broadband speed has also helped it climb to 2nd position eclipsing Bangladesh’s 29.01 Mbps download speed. India remains unmoved at 1st clocking 46.18 Mbps in download speed.
With Bangladesh slipping to 3rd, Sri Lanka and the Maldives rank 4th and 5th with 20.26 Mbps and 10.27 Mbps download speed respectively. Bhutan stays at 6th with a 10.66 Mbps download speed. Pakistan clocked 9.04 Mbps and sits at 7th.
Afghanistan lingers last at 8th of SAARC with just 1.70 Mbps speed. The embattled neighbor also sits last in Speedtest’s Global Fixed Broadband Index.

Internet Speed War Begins Showing Effet
Nepal’s improvement in broadband speed rank is a clear sign that the ongoing speed war is having its effect on the internet. Besides, the major ISPs have upgraded their customers’ existing packages with a major speed bump. The new customers are getting at least 150 Mbps packages on average from major ISPs. That is not all. To improve WiFi performance, the service providers have begun bundling their services with dual-band routers which gives a more consistent data transmission.
Nepal’s fiber broadband speed will have more encouraging days in the coming months as the upgraded packages are yet to implement for existing users and when newer customers subscribe to 3 digits to 1 Gbps packages, broadband speed will likely climb further.
