SRINAGAR: Multiple teams of National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday carried out searches at 16 locations in Srinagar, Anantnag, Kulgam, and Baramulla besides Doda and Kishtwar districts, following several incidents of targeted killings of civilians over the past few days.
The NIA has registered two cases in June this year to probe the role of a publication belonging to “voice of Hind,” said to be an Isis affiliate, attempting to radicalise the Kashmiri youth and also promote anti-India propaganda.
The agency is also looking at the role of an outfit called The Resistance Front (TRF), an offshoot of terror outfit LeT, after police recovered explosive material from Batindi in jammu.
According to the police, the agency has arrested nearly 570 youth including some stone pelters and former terrorists and Jamiat-e-Islamia and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat activists to get to the terrorists responsible for the killings of the civilians.
The NIA has summoned 40 teachers from various government schools to get the clue for the recent spate of civilian killings, including the principal and a teacher at Eidgah Boys Higher Secondary School.
The teams also raided the hideouts of a top terrorist based in Pakistan, Sheikh Sajad Gul, in the outskirts of Srinagar district. Gul is also running one blog from Rawalpindi through which he issues threats to journalists and social activists.
According to intelligence reports, ISI has established hybrid terrorists from among the local radicalized youth who are reportedly being used to select civilian targets.
