NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that the democracy is being killed as the opposition is not being allowed to raise issues in the Parliament.
Rahul Gandhi, who is heading the march demanding the suspension of 12 RS MPs to be revoked said their voices have been crushed.
“The suspension of MPs is a symbol of the crushing of the voice of people of India. Their voices have been crushed. They have done nothing wrong. We are not allowed to discuss important issues in Parliaments,” Rahul said.
Rahul further called Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Rajya Sabha Chairman “just implementors” of a power that wants to steal farmers’ income.
“A minister killed farmers. The Prime Minister is aware of it. Truth is that 2-3 capitalists are against farmers… These MPs were not suspended by the Rajya Sabha chairman or the Prime Minister but by the power that wants to steal farmers’ income. The Prime Minister and the chairman are just implementors,” he added.
Several Opposition MPs, led by Congress staged a demonstration in the well of Rajya Sabha for an hour today, demanding withdrawal of suspension of 12 MPs. TMC’s Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, however, participated in the proceedings of the House.
As many as 12 opposition MPs were suspended from the Rajya Sabha on November 29 for the entire Winter session of Parliament for their “unruly” conduct in the previous session in August.
The Opposition has termed the suspension as “undemocratic and in violation of all the Rules of Procedure” of the upper house.
