Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday chaired a high-level meeting to review the Covid-19 related situation and the vaccination drive in the country, government sources said.
This comes as the overall trend for new infections shows a steady decline across the country, except for Kerala that continues to report close to 30,000 daily cases.
35 districts are still reporting a weekly Covid positivity rate of over 10 per cent, a government official said.
17,87,611 tests were conducted on Thursday; the daily positivity rate was recorded 1.96 per cent. It has been less than three per cent for last 11 days
The cumulative vaccination coverage has now surpassed 72.37Cr, according to government data.
More than half of India’s adult population has received at least one dose of anti-coronavirus vaccine while 18 per cent have got both the shots, the Centre had said on Thursday.
