NEW DELHI: Congress MPs including party interim president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi staged a protest in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statue inside the Parliament premises on Monday demanding repeal of three farm laws.
Leader of the opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge and leader of Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury also participated in the protest.
Leaders of many opposition parties also attended a meeting called by Kharge to “create a consensus” over the issues to be raised in the winter session of the Parliament commencing today.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the government is ready to hold discussion and answer questions on all issues.
Speaking with reporters, he said citizens want Parliament to debate on issues of national interest and find ways for development of the country.
The winter is scheduled to conclude on December 23.
