The AIADMK coordinator, O. Panneerselvam, on Saturday said Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, who met Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few days ago, had not yet disclosed whether he discussed with Mr. Modi the issue of seeking exemption for Tamil Nadu from the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).
In a statement, the AIADMK leader said the Chief Minister had not also stated what was the response of the Prime Minister on the issue. In the meantime, there were reports that the NEET test for undergraduate medical courses would be held on July 17 and online registration would begin on Sunday.
Mr. Panneerselvam wanted Mr. Stalin to exert “adequate pressure” on the Centre and get the exemption at least this year, besides spelling out the timeline.
Dhinakaran flays hike
In a series of tweets, the AMMK general secretary T.T.V. Dhinakaran criticised the DMK government for hiking the property tax rates by 100% in the State.
When normalcy was set to return after the COVID-19 pandemic, the hike had come as a “rude shock” to people. Terming it an “unconscionable measure”, he wanted the government to roll back the hike.
‘Giant pipes’
In another series of tweets, he condemned the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation for, what he called, keeping giant pipes near Mayiladuthurai, which came under the Protected Special Agricultural Zone in the Cauvery delta.
