NEW DELHI: The Union health ministry on Thursday warned people to avoid crowds and follow covid appropriate behaviour ahead of the festivities.
Addressing a weekly briefing, the health officials said that it will be prudent to avoid non-essential travel and observe festivity but at low-key at least this year.
“Active cases are going down across the country, cumulative recovery rate rising. The country has a recovery rate of almost 98%,” Union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan said.
The number of Covid-19 tests has not reduced as 15-16 lakh tests are being done every day, he added.
Speaking on the Zydus Cadila vaccine for kids, the health officials said that it will not be available in the market now but will be included in the Covid vaccination programme.
“The call of the hour is to give the two-dose vaccination/full vaccination covering the entire adult population. The talk of booster dose is not pertinent at the moment” ICMR DG, Dr Balram Bhargava said.
