RAIPUR: A superintendent of police (SP) and his wife were severely injured in an attack by elephants in a village in the forest region of Chhattisgarh’s Pendra on Wednesday evening. Four foresters were also injured. Local media reports said that a female elephant coiled its trunk around Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi SP Trilok Bansal and slammed him on the ground, but Marwahi divisional forest officer Sanjay Tripathi said the Bansal couple were injured while being chased by the elephant.
The SP has suffered head injuries and was shifted to a private hospital in Bilaspur, around 100km away, after preliminary treatment in the district hospital, said Tripathi.
