NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday accused forces with a colonial mindset, both within the country and outside, of disrupting India’s development journey.
“Today, there may be no colonies in the world, but that does not mean the colonial mindset has ended. The obstacles put in the path of development of developing countries is a clear example of the disruptions being caused by the colonial mindset of some nations,” PM Modi said at a Constitution Day event organised by the Supreme Court.
“There is an attempt to deny the developing countries those very resources and the development path which the developed countries once used for their growth,” he said.
“India is the only country which is on the way to achieve the targets of Paris agreement ahead of schedule. Despite that there is an attempt to create pressure on India in the name of environment. This is the result of the colonial mindset,” PM said.
The Prime Minister also accused forces within the country of having colonial mindset and blamed them for disrupting country’s growth story.
“Unfortunately, even in our country hurdles are being put in the path of development due to such mindset. Sometimes they do this in the name of freedom of expression and sometimes they use some other excuse to do this,” PM Modi said.
