JAMMU: A drone sighted in the Arnia sector of Jammu and Kashmir on late Saturday evening turned back when the Border Security Force (BSF) men fired at it. A search operation in the area is underway, a BSF official said.
BSF spokesperson DIG SPS Sandhu said, “A drone coming from Pakistan towards India was observed near Vikram Post in the Arnia area of RS Pura subdivision at 7.25 pm with a blinking light.” “Hardly had it crossed the international border, alert BSF troops fired eight rounds at the drone, due to which it turned away.”
At 4.10 am on March 5, suspected movement of a drone was reported from the Arnia area of the international border. The flying object turned back on being fired upon.
Similarly, drone intrusion was reported on February 24 in the area of Jammu on the border after which Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu police launched a cordon and search operation and seized a consignment dropped by the drone.
The drone-dropped arms and ammunition included three remote-controlled IEDs, as many detonators, three explosive bottles, a bundle of Cordtex wire, two timers of IEDs, one pistol, two magazines, six grenades and 70 rounds.
