National ICT Day 2022 is held ceremoniously in Kathmandu. And like in previous editions, the government conferred awards to the deserving candidates honoring their contribution under various categories.
The prestigious ICT fair concluded on May 4th. It was the 4th edition of the ceremony hosted by the government of Nepal.
At the ceremony, the government made various announcements for Digital Nepal Framework while recognizing key figures in ICT. In this post, we will familiarize you with the winners of the popular event. Keep reading.
Roja Kiran Wins National ICT Excellent Award 2022 (Women’s Category)
Roja Kiran Basukala was the winner of the National ICT Excellence Award in the women’s category. She is the Deputy Director of the Nepal Telecommunications Authority.
Along with the award, she also received one lakh in cash prize and a certificate. Besides her duties at NTA, Basukala is also active in multiple social organizations.
Likewise, Shivajan Chaluagain claimed National ICT Innovation Award 2079. He received the prestigious honor for his contribution to the digitalization of agriculture. Chaulagain has founded the Krishi Guru app. The app has been revolutionary in facilitating common farmers to connect with agriculture experts, traders, and institutions.
It has helped farmers who wish to seek information and knowledge online opening the potential for Smart Krishi practice. The Krishi Guru app is already serving 5 lakh users across Nepal through smartphones.
Similarly, Chaluagain received a certificate and one lakh in cash prize.
On the other hand, this year’s National ICT Excellence Award went to Pankaj Jalan. Jalan is the founder and director of Nepal’s first ICT college Lord Buddha Education Foundation. Like other winners, he also received one lakh in cash and a certification.
Veda Wins it for Contribution to Technology
Likewise, Ingrails Pvt. Ltd. which owns Veda, an online platform for e-learning received the National ICT Award 2022 for its contribution to online education. The company earned recognition under the Private Sector category by the MoCIT.
Veda has become the most common name for e-learning in Nepal. Since Covid-19, the company became the go-to platform for virtual classes. But the company’s flagship service has been operating since 2016 helping schools operate digitally only to become ubiquitous after the pandemics.
Upon receiving the honor, Nirdesh Dwa, the CEO and Co-founder of Ingrails said, “We aim to reach all corners of Nepal to ensure that no child misses out on education because of inaccessibility and disruptions.”
Veda helps schools with trivial workloads and puts education at ease. It efficiently carries out the task of process automation, data management, e-learning, results, etc.
Veda is currently serving 800 schools in 40 districts in Nepal.
