Of the 750 applicants, 200 candidates will be provided with required aid, including tricycle, smart phone for visually impaired, braille books, artificial limbs, hearing aide, special kits for learning and wheelchair among others. Also, 215 candidates will get disability certificates.
The department has conducted the camp for physically challenged candidates after a span of four years. Students with above 40 per cent disability are considered eligible for the assistance. They are also eligible to avail scholarship.
“Of the six blocks, camps have been conducted at Indore urban I, Indore urban II, Indore rural, Mhow, and Depalpur. Camp will be conducted in Sanwer block on Wednesday,” school education department assistant district project coordinator (inclusive education) Abid Ali told TOI.
Data of candidates has been sent to hospital and disability certificates will be provided to them in a fortnight, he added.
Indore rural had the highest number of handicapped candidates with 164 identified eligible. Of them, 37 will get instruments and 35 will get disability certificates.
In Indore urban I, 110 candidates have been found eligible. Of them, 25 will get required aid and 15 will get disability certificates. A total of 150 candidates are eligible in Indore urban II. Of them, 32 will get the assistance and 48 will be provided with the certificates.
In Depalpur block, the department has found 145 eligible. As many as 46 are eligible for equipments and 55 for disability certificates. From Mhow block, 139 candidates were identified as eligible candidates and among the total eligible students, 46 will get equipments and 58 will get certificates.
