As the number of Covid-19 cases continues to decline in Jharkhand, the state government announced on Thursday that schools can resume conducting offline classes for students of grades 6 to 8 from September 20, 2021. The state government has provided Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to schools, keeping in view the Covid-19 protocols.
Schools in the state will now operate a blended form of education, which includes both online and offline classes, as per the notice issued by the Jharkhand Disaster Management Division.
According to the statement, “Attendance for students who attend offline classes will not be compulsory. For students who want to choose offline classes, their guardian’s consent would be required.”
Group activities and offline examinations are prohibited in all schools to maintain social distancing norms. All students and staff members must wear masks that completely cover their mouths and nostrils.

Meanwhile, before coming to schools for offline classes, teachers must be immunised with the COVID-19 vaccines.
The state administration has also recommended that schools use air conditioning as little as possible and provide fresh air ventilation in indoor places.
Schools should not exceed four hours of offline classes, i.e. 12 pm for grades 6 to 12.
The state currently has only 110 active coronavirus cases, bringing the total caseload to 3,48,096.
