Apart from Hakim, KMC Chairman Mala Ray and several Mayor-in-Councils also took oath.
After taking up the post of Kolkata Mayor, Hakim said, “Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) will take a number of new initiatives to make Kolkata the best city in the world.
“We will float a new app through which KMC will be able to provide building plan sanction, mutation, water permission and new parking plan. Hakim said the Kolkata Municipal Corporation will provide best services to the citizens, making one-stop online services,” Hakim said on Tuesday.
Several other apps will be launched the KMC to make life easier for the citizens. “It will help people to avail all the services online and free them from the shackles of the agents who operate in KMC,” Hakim said.
“We will provide service to the people as we have been selected by Mamata Banerjee for providing service to the citizens. It is a huge responsibility for me and all of us,” the Mayor said.
In 2018, Hakim was appointed mayor following the resignation of Sovan Chatterjee, the former Mayor. Later, Hakim was appointed as Chairman of Board of Administrators of the KMC in May, 2020, after KMC Mayor’s five-year term was completed. He resigned as Chairman of Board of Administrators of KMC in March, 2021 after Election Commission of India (ECI) told all political appointees serving as board administrators of West Bengal municipal corporations, ahead of 2021 assembly polls, to stay away from such positions.
