News is coming in from South Korea that has pointed to the delay of Samsung’s native Exynos 2200 chipset. The successor to Exynos 2100 (powering last year’s S21 Series), Exynos 2200 was scheduled to debut on 11th January but now it’s postponed. While the upcoming Galaxy S22 Series is arriving in February, sounds like, the South Korean giant is initially going for the Snapdragon Gen 1 chipset. Learn more about it below.
Exynos 2200 Delayed
Samsung had its fans hyped for the AMD’s RDNA2 GPU with Exynos 2200. This is also the first time, the Graphics Giant is making its way into the mobile platform. The upcoming Exynos chipset is also based on 4nm architecture like its counterpart; Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 from Qualcomm.
Samsung always has this culture of shipping Exynos variants to the rest of the world except the U.S. & China. Even the recently launched Galaxy S21 FE 5G shipped with Exynos 2100 in other regions except for the aforementioned countries.
“We are planning to unveil the new application processor at the time of launching a new Samsung smartphone,” an official for Samsung Electronics said regarding Exynos 2200 delay. He further added that “There are no problems with the AP’s production and performance.”
Galaxy S22 Series To be Shipped with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1
Due to the delay of its native chipset, Samsung is likely to launch the Galaxy S22 series with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 instead. Surprisingly, this is also the first time Samsung is shipping its flagship series with Qualcomm’s chipset in South Korea, the Middle East, & Europe.
The Exynos variant might launch a bit later in other regions. Rumors have it, Samsung might use the Exynos 2200 for a new smartphone than Galaxy S22 series. While it is to be taken with a grain of salt as nothing is confirmed as of now.

Snapdragon Vs Exynos Variants
Fans have always wanted Snapdragon variants rather than not so preferable Exynos variants of Samsung Galaxy flagship lineups. The American SoC is proven to be better than the South Korean one in terms of thermal management & power efficiency in the past Galaxy Flagship phones. Also, the trust & popularity of the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset has out shadowed the Exynos chipset on several occasions.
That doesn’t mean Exynos chipset is bad. The actual life usage between the two variants is not drastically different. The Exynos 2100 nearly came equal to power & performance but Snapdragon 888 took a major lead with its GPU & better battery life. Well, the Exynos 2200 with AMD’s RDNA2 GPU graphics might be a game-changer with powerful GPU than Adreno 730 of the 8 Gen 1.
Our Thoughts
Sounds like the upcoming Galaxy S22 Series will come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. The Exynos 2200 delay might be good for most of the Snapdragon fans. Samsung fans in Nepal & India were waiting for a long time for Samsung to offer their flagships with Snapdragon chipset.
