During the previous two academic sessions, there have been quite some changes in the CBSE syllabus and board paper pattern. However, as the Term 2 Sample Papers are awaited, it is still not sure if the board exams will be 100% MCQ-based or combined with objective and subjective questions. Agitation is starting to build up in students for proper study material, which now must 100% comply with the latest changes.
For the last two years, we have been listening about Educart reference books being suitably popular for both CBSE and ICSE Boards.
There is no doubt that these books are now preferred by most CBSE and ICSE students today. So, we decided to take a closer look at the content of Educart’s latest Term 2 Question Banks for Class 10 and Class 12 based on the following parameters.
- Physical Research: Our in-house subject matter experts checked the content of these books for their precision, presentation and relevance.
- Online Presence: Amazon and Flipkart ratings tell a lot about an online product. So, we recorded them over time.
- Reviews on E-Commerce Websites: We also went through the reviews that students and teachers now leave on Amazon, Flipkart, Quora and Brainly.
- Survey: Finally, we sat down with a few school teachers from top CBSE schools to talk about their experience with Educart books in general and with respect to Term 2.
Read on below to know what we found.
1. Relevance to the Latest CBSE Changes
CBSE has provided several guidelines (through circulars and webinars) on how to build questions that follow Competency-based Education. Recently, it was also said that the Term 2 Sample Papers may include both objective and subjective questions to assess knowledge and skills in students instead of their rote memorisation skills.
So, for a practice material book to be good enough, the publishers must be aware of these guidelines and introduce such questions in their resources. Also, these books must now include questions that can test various competencies in students.
Educart Books Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- In both the CBSE Term 2 Question Banks for Class 10 and Class 12, we noticed a variety of questions in each chapter including Objective Questions (MCQs, Stand Alone VSAs, etc.) and Subjective Questions (Stand Alone, Diagram/ Table/ Situation/ Case-based questions, A/ R, Long Answer, etc.)
- They have a separate section for Competency-based questions (Objective + Subjective) that can assess skills, abilities and knowledge in students instead of their rote memorisation skills.
Educart Question Banks are 100% based on the latest guidelines and we are hoping that they will include future Term 2 changes in their books as well.
2. Number of Practice Questions
Question Bank books should be devised in a way that they justify their name with a bank of questions. There must be a collection of different types of CBSE new pattern questions (at least 10-25 each) in each chapter.
Educart Books Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
- As claimed, Educart Question Banks have actually included more than 300 Questions in their Language (English and Hindi) books and more than 500-600 Questions in their main subject (Maths, Science, SST) books.
- There are solved examples, plenty of questions in the exercises and even unsolved questions for extra practice (with solutions on their website).
- After checking with previous year papers and sample papers, we found that these books also included some of the most important questions of Class 10 and 12 syllabi.
It’s been said that more than 40-50% questions from these books appear in Board exams and we must say, WE AGREE.
3. Quality of Questions and Solutions
Quality of questions is an essential thing to focus on in a Question Bank. The students and even teachers look to these books for their final board preparation. Even if the theory is scarce, the quality of questions and their solutions must be on point.
Educart Books Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
- We really appreciate how Educart has given solutions and detailed explanations for almost all the solved Questions.
- The language is easy to understand and totally relevant to the topics included in the reduced 2021-22 syllabus of Class 10 and 12.
With these detailed explanations and solutions, students can easily recall the NCERT topics related to the questions asked. This feature adds more quality to the appeal of reference books.
4. Affordable for Everyone
Sometimes, the cost of a book is actually the only factor that some students and teachers don’t buy. They look for affordability with as many useful features as possible. So, a Term 2 Question Bank priced at ₹200 with enough questions, theory and quality explanations is definitely worth it for students interested in final practice material for Board exams.
Educart Books Review: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Most Educart Question Banks for Class 10 and Class 12 are available to buy under ₹175.
With up to 500+ questions in most subjects and multiple features in compliance with the latest CBSE syllabus, they are worth the price.
To our surprise, Educart surpassed our expectations in every parameter of the research for their Term 2 Question Banks. If today, they have earned a name so well, we can totally see how they are offering so many features at really affordable prices. From our point of view, they are totally reliable for Term 2 Class 10 and 12 Board exams.
