While senior students have been attending classes for a week now, in some institutions junior classes have been divided into two groups to come thrice a week. Timings have been reduced by those schools holding classes for five days a week. Some schools have also started transport services after almost two years.
However, schools like Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj and DAV have kept reopening for pre-primary students in abeyance for now.
Nitisha Gaur, whose son studies in Bhatnagar International School in Vasant Kunj, said, “The hybrid option is there, but I’ll be sending him to school thrice a week.” For
At DPS Vasant Kunj, students of classes III and V would be visiting from Monday and Wednesday, while classes II and IV would be held on Tuesday and Thursday. Students have been divided according to their roll numbers. They would have to use specific gates for entry and exit. At Sardar Patel Vidyalaya, students of classes I and II would becalled once a week forphysical classes.
Rooma Pathak, principal of MM Public School, Pitampura, said they had divided students from classes nursery to VIII into two groups. They would be coming to school thrice a week. “To ensure that each student comes to school thrice, we will be holding classes on Saturdays too. Senior classes are being held in full strength. The bus service may start after a week, depending on the response from parents,” she added.
ITL Public School, Dwarka is starting the school transport from Monday. “We did not want students to miss school for lack of conveyance. All our buses have been sanitised and serviced,” said principal Sudha Acharya. Out of five sections of classes, three sections would attend classes on each day for the initial 10 days.
At Birla Vidya Niketan, though all students have been called, the authorities don’t expect good attendance. “Students are hardly coming, except for Class XII practicals. We think only 50% of junior students will turn up. This is because transport services haven’t resumed. As small children are not vaccinated, their parents may just opt for online classes,” said principal Minakshi Kushwaha.
All children have been called at most government schools. “In the primary section, there are hardly 40 students in each class, so we will easily be able to accommodate all of them,” said AK Jha, principal of Sarvodaya Co-ed Vidyalaya, Sector 8, Rohini.
