Call of Duty, a game known for military combat and missions has always been a fan favorite videogame with nostalgia. The game has several franchises such as Modern Warfare, Black Ops Cold War, Call of Duty Mobile, Call of Duty Warzone, etc. Among them, Warzone a reply for PUBG PC got immensely popular with its fast-paced and action-packed FPP Battle Royale experience. Gamers around the world got amazed when Activision made an official announcement for bringing Warzone to mobile platforms. The speculation regarding this was already made last year with various hints and tweets. On March 11, Activision’s official Twitter handle tweeted, “We are building Call of Duty® Warzone™ for mobile! Apply today for exciting roles across the development and publishing teams.” with two links for applications.

“We are creating an all-new, AAA mobile experience that will bring the thrilling, fluid, and large-scale action of Call of Duty: Warzone to players on the go”, Activision wrote on their website. The company calls it a large-scale battle royale experience for mobile platforms. Further, the game is said to deliver cutting-edge performance on a mobile device. The job listing are as follows;

• Artists:- UI Artists
• Producer:- Senior Producer, Producer, Associate Producer
• Product:- Senior Product Manager, Product Manager

What To Expect From COD Warzone Mobile?

The battle royale genre is dominated by PUBG Mobile on mobile platforms. The company’s Call of Duty Mobile(CODM) comes second on the list. PUBG is known for its rich battle royale experience. The game is very popular in Nepal as well. Recently, PUBG also annexed its server with Worldlink collaboration. Thanks to that, players can play on low ping.

CODM also offers an amazing multiplayer (TDM) experience for FPP lovers. It also has a Battle Royale mode but it’s not as exciting as PUBG’s. To cover this, Activision is bringing Warzone to mobile. Warzone has already been a popular one on PC and console platforms. This game demolished PUBG PC from its top spot and added a more action-packed gaming experience. It was released on March 10, 2020. So, a super BR game releasing on mobile platforms is just taking the competition to another level.

Seems like the game is still in the early process of development. There are no trailers or Beta gameplay available as of now. Still, COD Warzone Mobile is getting a lot of attention from the company. 5 studios are working jointly to bring it as soon as possible. Moreover, the company is targeting to compete against the likes of PUBG, Freefire, Apex Legends etc.

Also adding fuel to the fire, Apex Legends is coming globally for Android and iOS in two months. Hence, the Battle Royale genre is going to be competitive.

About CODM

Call of Duty Mobile is still doing well in terms of revenue for the company. The game released in 2019 earned $1.5 Billion for the company. More focused on Team Death Match modes, CODM offers better optimization and graphics here. Also, there are several modes to play with; TDM, Frontline, Hardpoint, Domination, Free For All, etc. For Battle Royale (BR), there are three maps; Isolated, Blackout, and Alcatraz. Here, Alcatraz doesn’t stay as a permanent map unlike the other two. It comes as a seasonal map for a limited period. That map originally comes from Warzone.

Despite being here for more than two years, CODM still falls behind PUBG for a proper BR experience. It is also due to PUBG being launched a year earlier for mobile platforms. Also, Nepalese mobile gamers are more likely to stick to one game. PUBG also has massive regional esports with lucrative prize pools. The lockdown era of Covid also brought in thousands of new players. In this scenario, COD Warzone Mobile might lure the BR lovers with improved graphics & fast pace game styles. We can expect the game to soft launch in the last quarter of 2022.
