A Chinese man has reportedly been living at the Beijing Capital International Airport Terminal for more than a decade and has no intention of going back to his family.
Wei Jianguo, moved in to the airport terminal after a fallout with his family who were not happy about his smoking and drinking habit. Wei, 60, is out of job and has been living at the airport’s Terminal 2 since 2008, as per a report by China Daily.
“My family told me if I wanted to stay, I had to quit smoking and drinking. If I couldn’t do that, I had to give them all my monthly government allowance of 1,000 yuan ($150). But then how would I buy my cigarettes and alcohol?,” he told China Daily in an interview.

Wei said he was fired from his job when he was in his 40s and has not found employment since due to his old age.
Notably, Wei is not the only one who calls the airport his ‘home’. Around five or six other people have been living at the airport’s terminals, a senior sanitation worker told China Daily.
The sanitation and security workers at the airport have not objected to their presence.
However, shortly before Christmas last year, Wei was asked to leave after a video of him eating noodles at the waiting room in the terminal went viral. But, he soon returned.
He said he laid low for a few days and then returned. “At least I have my freedom in the airport,” he was quoted as saying by the China Daily.
