ET NOW’s consulting editor Swaminathan Aiyar is of the opinion that Budget 2022 will be an election Budget wherein politics will be prioritised. Ahead of the UP elections, freebies will be announced for every vote bank, by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Since Budget 2021, Aiyar feels the economy has grown rapidly with a big boom in GDP, exports and tax revenues. However, when it comes to disappointments, Aiyar explains that disinvestment and reforms have been the big misses by the Government.
