Apple is reportedly planning to launch a fifth-generation iPad Air soon. According to a report by Japanese blog Mac Otakara, the tech giant will likely launch the new iPad Air along with the third-generation iPhone SE in spring 2022. The report further suggests that the upcoming iPad Air will have features similar to the sixth-generation iPad mini including A15 Bionic chip, 5G connectivity, 12MP ultra wide front camera with Center Stage support, and a Quad-LED True Tone flash.
When it comes to design, the report suggests that the upcoming iPad Air will look similar to the current model. For those who do not know, the current iPad Air was launched in October 2020 and it features a 10.9-inch display, a Touch ID power button, and a USB-C port. It is available in five colour options including Space Gray, Silver, Green, Rose Gold, and Sky Blue.
If previous reports are to be believed, Apple will likely host an event in March and April. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the tech giant may launch the iPad Air and iPhone SE 3 at that event.
Earlier this week, a report by 9to5Mac also gave some insight into the upcoming Apple iPad Pro. As per the report, the company has hit a roadblock in its plans to redesign the iPad Pro with MagSafe. The report further reveals that Apple was testing a full glass back on the iPad Pro 2022. The glass back was making it more fragile and easier to damage.
When it comes to display, known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo believes that Apple will switch the LCD panel for a miniLED display in the 11-inch model. The company made a similar move in 2021 with the 12.9-inch Apple iPad Pro. Apple is also reportedly woking to improve the battery life of its Pro tablets.
