World Aids day is celebrated across globe on 1 December to fight the prejudice and educate the society about the epidemic. Yi Ludhiana in association with SPS Apollo Hospital orgnaised the Aids awareness camp exclusively for truck drivers at the parking of Transport Nagar. At this occasion Dr. Ashish Ahuja from Dayanand Medical College & Hospital and Yi Ludhiana Chair said that according to NACO, 2011 data 0.27% Adults are infected with HIV. The purpose of organizing this camp was that educate the truck drivers about epidemic as they are more exposed to the HIV Virus and Sexually Transmitted Diseases. So there is an urgent need to create awareness among the long distance truck drivers. Dr. Gautam Aggarwal of SPS Apollo Hospital interacted with more than 200 truck drivers; he told them that only knowledge of AIDS is savior from AIDS. Basic precautions he suggested to use Condom during physical relations, not use disposed syringes and stay away from drugs.
